The 4M40 series is Mitsubishi's classic 2.8L four-cylinder light-duty diesel power platform for off-road vehicles, pickups, and light commercial vehicles. It features a mature SOHC 8-valve swirl chamber combustion design with a thick cast iron cylinder block and cylinder head, and timing belt driven valve train.
