Technical Maintenance Tips

What happens when the engine supercharger breaks down?

Signs of a broken motor booster include:

  • Blue or white smoke from the exhaust pipe
  • Decreased power output
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Increased oil consumption
  • Unstable turbine pressure

Blue or white smoke during idling indicates poor sealing of the turbocharger impeller shaft. When the turbocharger fails, vehicle power drops significantly while fuel consumption increases. A blocked exhaust gas recirculation pipe can cause blue smoke during acceleration and accelerate oil consumption.

Proper Operation Guidelines:

  • After starting the engine, allow 2-3 minutes of idling to ensure proper turbocharger lubrication before driving
  • After extended high-speed operation, do not shut down the engine immediately - sudden shutdown can cause oil to overheat and damage bearings
